Evolving Dashboard Ecosystems for Nimble Data Sharing – A Scrappy Approach

Session Abstract: The University of Vermont (UVM) is undertaking a strategic transformation of its institutional reporting and business intelligence capabilities within the context of a newly established data governance framework. Historically reliant on static, semesterly data reports, UVM is evolving to meet growing internal and external demands for timely, operational insights. This presentation outlines the efforts of the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment (OIRA) to modernize data delivery through the adoption of Power BI, the development of over 35 targeted dashboards, and the implementation of access controls to protect sensitive information. Despite operating without a centralized data warehouse and within a fragmented data infrastructure, UVM is making significant progress. Attendees will gain insight into the challenges, strategies, and outcomes of this ongoing transformation, with a focus on balancing transparency, usability, and privacy.
