Data Analyst- Institutional Effectiveness Missouri University of Science and Technology Atlanta, Georgia, United States
Session Abstract: Dashboards are powerful tools for driving data-informed decisions in higher education, but accessibility is too often overlooked. This session shows how to design Power BI dashboards that deliver insights while remaining usable for all audiences. Through real-world higher ed examples, we will share practical strategies to enhance equity, clarity, and storytelling with intentional design. Attendees will learn how small adjustments-like improving color contrast, adding clear navigation, and using alt text-can transform dashboards into inclusive tools that communicate effectively with diverse users. The session features live redesigns of higher education visuals, demonstrating techniques to highlight key metrics while meeting accessibility standards. Participants will also receive a practical checklist to apply in their own work. By the end, attendees will be prepared to design dashboards that engage stakeholders and support inclusive, actionable decision-making at their institutions.
