Session Abstract: Data governance is often perceived as an overwhelming, all-encompassing campus effort, frequently stalling in committee discussions or losing momentum over time. This session presents a hands-on, collaborative approach to data governance that is rooted in practical data usage, empowers the stakeholders, and aligned with shared organizational goals. Participants will be guided through a structured process for reviewing data elements, understanding data usage, and data standards and policies. The presentation will offer insights into the key questions to ask and the key stakeholders to involve. The approach is designed to align closely with the practices of data users and consumers on campus, so that data governance is relevant and meaningful.
