Session Abstract: In higher education, attending or leading meetings is part of the job responsibility. In fact, meetings are considered a critical element of effective organizational communication. With the option of virtual meetings, one can go from one meeting to the next without a breath or a break. For some of us, we get frustrated with a calendar filled with meetings and wonder how any work can get done. On the other hand, we are also upset if we are not invited to a meeting, especially after finding out that the meeting topic was relevant for our specific area of expertise. Basically, meetings can be classified as either productive or pure torture. Why are so many meetings boring, unproductive, and at times, contentious? More importantly, how can we make them better? This presentation will dive into answering those questions as well as providing a guide to make your meetings more effective, inclusive, and even a little bit fun.
