Session Abstract: What does student success look like beyond degrees? This session examines student well-being in Japan in a global context and its link to higher education learning outcomes. Using Waseda University’s Alumni Survey (10 Years Post-Graduation) data (n≈1,150), the presentation highlights challenges and practices to strengthen Institutional Research (IR). The poster provides a 12-item well-being instrument for IR, shows how to embed it in an alumni survey, and reports item means; degree- and cluster-based comparisons (Social Sciences, Humanities, Science & Engineering, Education); correlates—engagement, GPA, Diploma Policy (DP) attainment, income, firm size, tenure, Tokyo-metro residence, first-generation; and a multiple regression using an overall 12-item composite as the outcome. By integrating well-being and outcomes assessment, institutions can advance evidence-based decision-making and student support while contributing to the success of higher education in a global context.
