Mapping Student Home Locations to Support Strategic Enrollment Management

Session Abstract: Community colleges are mission-driven to serve their local residents, while rapid population growth and shifting workforce demands can challenge traditional service area definitions. This session presents a case study from Paradise Valley Community College (PVCC), part of the Maricopa County Community College District, which historically relied on a 10-mile radius service area. Using a dashboard that integrates student enrollment data with geographic information obtained through the Google Maps APIs, PVCC redefined its service boundaries to better reflect growth in northern Phoenix. The session will discuss how the geographic dashboard can inform enrollment management strategies, such as supporting outreach to underserved communities and guiding partnerships with employers and schools. Attendees will gain practical insights and tools for applying geographic data to strengthen enrollment management decision-making at their own institutions.
