Session Abstract: This session reframes GPA as an assessment question: what evidence of learning and development does it truly represent? By linking academic, engagement, and labor market data, participants will explore how GPA functions as one indicator within a broader assessment ecosystem. The session illustrates how grade and indirect (engagement and belonging measured through NSSE) measures can be integrated to assess both learning outcomes and life outcomes. Through data storytelling and visualization, participants will consider how to use assessment findings to communicate impact and inform improvement efforts across academic and co-curricular domains. Participants will be asked to reflect on their own institutional data practices and personal experiences with grades and learning.
Keywords: Beyond grades, life success outcomes, data storytelling, matching data sets
