Derrick Dupuis is a data professional specializing in data-driven decision-making in higher education. Over the last ten years, he has worked in institutional research, committed to enhancing student success, operational efficiency, and strategic planning through comprehensive data analysis. Currently serving as the Director of Institutional Research at Nashville State Community College, Derrick’s journey began with a master’s degree in Computational Biology from the University at Buffalo. His diverse career includes roles as a restaurant general manager, math adjunct faculty, and student success advisor, where he consistently leveraged data to improve business processes and maximize outcomes.
Since 2015, Derrick has focused on data democratization and self-service data visualization in community colleges in North Carolina and Tennessee. With invaluable mentorship, he has honed skills in cultivating collaborative relationships, evidence-based decision-making, and crafting data-driven narratives. These strengths have enabled him to lead the establishment of institutional dashboards, initiate cross-departmental data governance conversations, and guide policy changes to make Nashville State more student-centered.
