Senior Vice President for Research and Technical Assistance

Dr. Martin (“Marty”) Romitti is Senior Vice President at the Center for Regional Economic Competitiveness (CREC) and Managing Director of the LMI Institute, where he leads national research, evaluation, and technical assistance initiatives focused on economic development, workforce strategy, labor market information, and public policy. With more than 25 years of experience, Dr. Romitti has worked with federal, state, regional, and local organizations to design and implement data-driven strategies that promote economic growth, workforce development, and long-term competitiveness.
His work has included evaluations and strategic initiatives for organizations such as the U.S. Economic Development Administration, Appalachian Regional Commission, U.S. Department of Defense, NIST Manufacturing Extension Partnership, U.S. Treasury Department, U.S. Labor Department, as well as partnerships with Lumina Foundation and Ascendium Education Philanthropy focused on strengthening workforce data systems, postsecondary attainment, and career pathway alignment.
Prior to joining CREC, Dr. Romitti served as Director of Economic and Public Policy Research at the University of Massachusetts Donahue Institute. Earlier in his career, he founded and directed the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center (MERIC), leading statewide economic and labor market research initiatives for 12 years.
Dr. Romitti holds a Ph.D. from the University of Missouri, an MPA from the University of Idaho, and a bachelor’s degree from Truman State University.
