Jessica Shedd is Assistant Provost for Assessment & Institutional Research at Tulane University, leading university-wide efforts to leverage data for decision-making, facilitate use of best practices in assessment for continuous improvement, and ensure compliance with Tulane’s accreditor (SACSCOC). Her twenty-five years in higher education includes roles in data analytics and research at The Institute for Higher Education Policy (IHEP) and the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO), institutional research positions at the University of Texas System and the University of Maryland, and serving as IPEDS Program Director at the U.S. Department of Education’s National Center of Education Statistics. She has served as Council Chair for the AAU Data Exchange (AAUDE) and has been a member of the Association for Institutional Research (AIR) Board of Directors, among a variety of other professional service roles. Recent publications include a chapter, “Trusted Data Sources to Demonstrate Accreditation Compliance,” in Kristina Powers’ 2024 book, The Power of Strategic Accreditation: Driving Institutional Impact. Jessica received her B.A. in psychology and women’s studies from the College of the Holy Cross and her M.A. in education from Stanford University.
