Dr. Avis Jackson manages, facilitates, organizes, and assists with developing formal evaluation and assessment strategies of federal, state, and local proposals for the Center for Predictive Analytics (CPA) at Morgan State University (MSU). She is the CPA's lead representative on the Measuring Abilities Supporting Student Success (MAS³)ᵀᴹ team project. The MAS³ᵀᴹ project, currently in its seventh year, is the development of an ipsative instrument measuring non-cognitive affective and behavioral constructs, initially for African American students at MSU.
The CPA is a social science research and evaluation organization at Morgan State University that provides technical solutions and support for a wide range of projects. Professors and researchers within and outside MSU, as well as state and private organizations, solicit the CPA's expertise to evaluate programs and develop assessments.
Through MSU’s National Institutes of Health (NIH) Building Infrastructure Leading to Diversity (BUILD) grant and currently for MSU’s Center for Innovative Instruction and Scholarship (CIIS), Dr. Jackson is a Center for the Improvement of Mentored Experiences in Research (CIMER) Entering Mentoring Certified Facilitator. She conducts mentor training using CIMER materials and is a mentor in the National Research Mentor Network. She has helped develop and conduct mentor training each year.
She also serves as a facilitator for the Morgan Institute of Strategic Teaching (MIST), formerly Mobile Scientific Institutes’ annual training, alongside other MSU professors for CIIS. MIST training seeks to assist faculty in adopting Student-Centered Teaching and Backward Design pedagogy by developing mini-modules or tidbits. She has served as Lead Facilitator since 2023.
Finally, she also serves as an adjunct teacher at Morgan State University’s Graduate Psychometric Program and the Psychology Department, from which she graduated.
