Shiya Liu has been a Research Analyst at Institutional Effectiveness and Analytics at Ohio University since 2023. In this position, Shiya has conducted research on student success, developed predictive models to identify students’ retention status, course success, etc., and collaborated with advising, residential life, academic achievement, and recreation departments to design data-informed interventions and program evaluations. She specializes in modeling and data integration across institutional systems, including enrollment, course success, and retention, to generate actionable insights. Shiya’s background includes advanced training in econometrics and quantitative research methods, with a focus on regression modelling, longitudinal data analysis, and causal inference. She attended the NCES Institute 2025 and presented findings on part-time retention rate at open-access universities and colleges.
