Session Abstract: This study examines how student engagement in higher education shifts under prolonged and intersecting crises. Using multi-year data from the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE), it tracks experiences across three turbulent phases: early economic and political instability (2013โ2014), deepening socioeconomic collapse (2017โ2018), and the disruption of the Covid-19 pandemic and the August 4, 2020 Beirut explosion (2020โ2021). Comparing patterns across time and between first-year and senior students, the research shows how external shocks influence academic involvement, learning relationships, and personal development. The findings reveal both vulnerability and resilience, offering insights for institutions and policymakers seeking to sustain engagement and educational quality amid systemic disruption.
