Session Abstract: There is a dearth of sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) data in postsecondary institutions, obscuring disparate outcomes for LGBTQIA+ students that are documented through surveys and qualitative studies. Further, the data that do exist are largely conducted outside of IR offices. To begin addressing this dearth of data, the American Association for the Advancement of Sciences awarded grants to five higher education institutions (four universities and one community college district) through its Catalyzing a Data Infrastructure to Support LGBTQ Inclusion initiative. This program aims to support the development of data infrastructure for the ethical collection and use of SOGI data with the long-term goal of using these data to support more inclusive STEMM pathways for LGBTQIA+ students. Join colleagues from awardee institutions to learn from their varying SOGI data approaches and takeaways from their grant implementation journeys within their unique institutional contexts.
