Eric Brooks co-leads the U.S. News Education data team, overseeing methodology and quality control across all of the company’s school rankings and guides. With a strong commitment to data-driven insight, he prioritizes integrity, transparency, and usability in ranking methodologies—helping students and families make informed decisions about education.
Since joining U.S. News in 2010, Brooks has led key innovations across education rankings. He introduced new outcomes-based measures for the Best Colleges rankings to better reflect student priorities around post-graduation success, and enhanced career metrics for law and business schools using more robust datasets. He spearheaded and has overseen the launch of every edition of the Best Online Programs rankings, developed through extensive industry research and stakeholder collaboration. He also significantly expanded the Best High Schools rankings by incorporating normalized, state-adjusted metrics, enabling the evaluation of seven times more public high schools.
