Lisa Applegate is the Assistant Director of Institutional Research at the University of Maine and has over a decade of experience in institutional research and data visualization. She helped form the Power BI Users Group within the University of Maine System and served on the UMS Power BI Governance Group, providing expertise on dashboard standards, governance, and training. Lisa has taught graduate coursework on institutional research, presented nationally and regionally (including APLU/AIR and NEAIR), and facilitated workshops on topics ranging from financial burden impacts on student success to Power BI use cases in higher education.
Lisa Applegate and Simona Mitevska manage the full suite of institutional dashboards at the University of Maine, including both public-facing and internal tools used by senior leadership, deans, and faculty. They have jointly organized campus-wide trainings and workshops to improve data literacy and help stakeholders integrate dashboards into their decision-making processes. Together, they also co-led the year-long IR Data Fellows Program, funded by APLU and AIR, which expanded campus-wide use of data and fostered collaborative projects on student success and retention.
