Patrick Harris, D.Sc., is a strategic data and analytics leader with over 20 years of experience advancing institutional research, reporting, and digital innovation across higher education. He currently leads system-level data initiatives supporting enterprise reporting, IPEDS compliance, and data governance within the University System of Georgia, where he works closely with institutions to ensure data quality, consistency, and actionable insight generation. Dr. Harris brings 10 years of experience in Research and Policy Analysis, where his work has supported systemwide reporting, institutional data integrity, federal compliance, and data-informed decision-making. He earned a Doctor of Science in Information Technology from Middle Georgia State University, an M.B.A. in Finance from Piedmont University, and dual B.B.A. degrees in Real Estate and Marketing from the University of Georgia.
Dr. Harris is nationally recognized for his research on artificial intelligence in higher education, including award-winning doctoral work examining faculty perspectives on AI adoption and ethics across U.S. institutions. His work emphasizes evidence-based strategies for responsible and scalable AI integration in academic environments. He is the founder of the University System of Georgia’s AI Community and is passionate about helping institutions translate complex data into meaningful decisions. His experience also includes 10 years in campus-based leadership roles, including service as Registrar, Director of Financial Aid, and Director of Enrollment Management Systems, as well as multiple years supporting Ellucian Banner users and Georgia’s INGRESS platform at the system office. His work bridges technical expertise with operational strategy to support data-informed leadership and student success.
