Session Abstract: At the City University of New York, the nation’s largest public urban university system, building and supporting data culture and infrastructure that arms decision makers with the needed data and analytics upon which to make sound strategic and programmatic decisions is no easy feat. It requires a comprehensive data and reporting office and requires a robust, secure, and sustainable data system that allows for broad longitudinal student tracking without compromising student confidentiality. In this session, we will describe how the Office of Applied Research, Evaluation, and Data Analytics brings to the forefront program, policy, and institutional research, as well as data management, infrastructure, and institutional reporting as requisite functions for building data culture and for solving complex problems being tackled by the University.  We will also present our Central Program Database (CPD) framework and its role in enhancing data literacy and evidence-based decision-making.
