A second-year residential doctoral student in Higher Education at Indiana University Bloomington (IUB). His research centers on organizational resilience, faculty development, and the role of generative AI in shaping higher education policy and practice. A Commonwealth Scholar, Alumni Advisor, Commonwealth Mentor, and the Queen's Essay Competition Judge, Awan has over a decade of experience as a faculty member at higher education institutions in the United Kingdom and Pakistan. He earned an M.Phil. Educational Leadership and Management (ELM), M.Sc. Economics and B.Sc. (Double Majors) Economics and Finance, and has served as the Lead Trainer with the British Council. Awan has chaired multiple conference sessions (ASHE 2025, MWERA 2025, and AERA 2026), presented at AIR 2025, ASHE 2025, and MWERA 2025, been recognized as an Emerging Scholar, and has experience that highlights his research acumen, academic contributions, and capacity to foster meaningful dialogue. Currently, he serves as a Project Associate (Research Assistant) at Center for Postsecondary Research (CPR) National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) School of Education (SOE) IUB, member of NSSE AI Research Work Group, member of CPR AI Committee and as President of the Graduate Student Association (GSA) SOE IUB, roles that uniquely position him to bridge research, practice, and policy. Research areas include the nexus of AI and higher education; faculty development (recruitment, retention, professional development); universities as complex organizations; neurodivergent college students; and the impact of AI on academic writing.
