Associate VP Institutional Effectiveness

Leonel Nieto is the Associate Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness at Salt Lake Community College, where he leads the college’s Institutional Effectiveness Division. His work focuses on strengthening institutional planning, accreditation, mission fulfillment, data governance, and analytics capacity to support student access, completion, and post-completion success.
He oversees teams responsible for strategy analysis and accreditation, institutional research, official reporting, data science, analytics, data engineering, and compliance reporting. In this role, he helps connect institutional strategy with evidence-based decision-making, ensuring that SLCC uses data and planning processes to improve student outcomes and organizational effectiveness.
Leonel is also an educator, teaching data visualization with an emphasis on storytelling, visual perception, and effective communication of data. Beyond SLCC, he serves as Chair of the Board of Directors for Comunidades Unidas, reflecting his commitment to community engagement, equity, and public service.
