Daniel is currently the Data Training & Communication manager at Weber State University. His research and expertise focus on early alert systems, perceptions of predictive analytics, data literacy training, and student retention and persistence. His current research focuses on perceptions of predictive analytics and early alert systems. With over a decade of experience in higher education, Daniel has helped faculty, staff, and students develop data literacy skills, enhance academic advising practices, create effective assessment tools, and implement strategic planning initiatives to improve student outcomes and institutional effectiveness. As an advisor, he has helped students foster a sense of belonging, provided guidance & support, promoted student engagement, and helped them gain skills and knowledge through academic advising, early alert administration, and predictive analysis. He has presented at AIR, EAB, HEDW, NACADA, and the Utah Advising Association conferences. His current responsibilities include data training and communication with a wide variety of campus stakeholders, during which he has created multiple data literacy courses, conducted data-related dashboard training, and led successful training events.
