Betsy Rosalen (she/her/hers) is a Senior Research Analyst in the Institutional Research Unit within the Office of Applied Research, Evaluation, and Data Analytics (OAREDA) at the City University of New York (CUNY). She supports system-wide research, reporting, and data analysis efforts that inform planning and policy across one of the largest public university systems in the United States.
Her work focuses on the analysis of complex higher education data, including student, employee, and institutional information. She regularly works with large administrative datasets, applying structured approaches to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and usability across reporting and analytical contexts.
In addition to her core analytical work, Betsy has been actively exploring the use of predictive machine learning models and artificial intelligence to enhance institutional research workflows. She has contributed to the design and development of AI-powered Copilot agents using Copilot Studio, including an initial effort to automate the OAREDA data request intake process and a subsequent tool focused on retrieving and summarizing institutional data documentation. Through this work, she has gained practical experience in agent design, iterative development, and aligning technical capabilities with organizational readiness.
Betsy’s current interests focus on the responsible and effective integration of AI tools into higher education analytics, with an emphasis on usability, scalability, and supporting analysts in navigating complex data environments. She is committed to leveraging data and technology to improve access to information and advance evidence-based decision-making in higher education.
